Bebo News
February 2008 has been a busy month for the online social networking giant Bebo. While there has not been any major additions to the website, there are major rumors surfacing about a possible sale of the company. Rumors of a billion dollar plus buyout by Google and News Corporation have recently made headlines on the internet. Some places are even reporting that Google may offer as much as one and a half billion dollars for the popular social networking establishment. As far as the News Corporation rumors go, the company under News Corp. that would acquire Bebo would be MySpace, one of the most popular social networking companies on the internet.
Bebo’s strength is that it is a popular target of UK individuals and, in the event that either Google or News Corp. purchased the site, it would increase the amount of traffic to the current social networking websites owned by those two companies. News Corporation, being the owner of MySpace, would benefit from the deal. Google, who owns Orkut, would benefit more from the deal as Orkut is not as popular in English speaking countries as it is in the Latin world. With Microsoft taking an interest in Yahoo, Google may try to make a move at Bebo to increase their stable of websites.
